We have all heard that an ounce or prevention is worth a pound of cure. And with the summer time weather, our desire to take advantage of all of the possible outdoor activities this saying could not be truer. With a cornucopia of outdoor activities from which to choose, all within a convenient drive of each McNaughton Home community, one just needs to properly prepare for the days excursion.
A very good preventative action needed during the summer and fall is to wear not only sunscreen but also insect repellent to ward off ticks. Especially the Lyme disease carrying Deer Ticks. Very difficult to detect, the deer tick nymph typically is the trouble maker when it comes to Lyme disease.
Smaller in size than 2 mm, the deer tick nymph is easy to pick up walking through tall grasses, wooded areas, golf courses and possibly even the most manicured lawn. So when you prepare for the days excursion, make sure you take the precaution of applying a good insect repellent. For really good information regarding Lyme Disease, what is it, prevention, treatment etc. check out www.cdc.gov/lyme.
We want you to have a safe and enjoyable summer filled with wonderful activities for you and your family. Just remember an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
